In addition to the large number of nationalities represented at faculty level, foreign students from all over the world give our institute a truly international environment. The students, together with the staff, represent around 70 different countries. Even before coming to BTH as a new student, you have the opportunity to get familiar with BTH students originally from your home country by contacting student organisations at BTH. Some of the student organizations at BTH are presented below.

AIESEC

AIESEC is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their ledarship potential. We are a non-politicial, independent, not-for-profit organisation run by students and recent graduates of institutions of higher education. Its members are interested in world issues, leadership and management. We provide young people with cross-cultural global internship and volunteer opportunities and leadership development experiences on campus. AIESEC does not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion or national/social origin.

African BTH Students Association (ABSA)

ABSA is an association of African BTH Students who decided to join hands together in building a lasting relationship between the African Students studying at the Blekinge Institute of Technology and the Karlskrona community in which they are in. The Association was formed in October, 2010. What is more important here is to foster the connections between the different African countries and Sweden at large.

Erasmus Student Network (ESN).

Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is one of the biggest interdisciplinary student associations in Europe. It was born on the 16th October 1989 and legally registered in 1990 for supporting and developing student exchange.We are present in more than 430 Higher Education Institutions from 36 countries. The network is constantly developing and expanding. We have around 12.000 active members that are in many sections supported by so called buddies mainly taking care of international students. Thus, ESN involves around 29.000 young people offering its services to around 160.000 international students every year.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE)

IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers or IEEE) is the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. IEEE has more than 400,000 members in more than 160 countries; more than 50 percent of whom are from outside the United States. It has  more than 107,000 student members, 333 sections in 10 geographic regions worldwide 2,110 chapters that unite local members with similar technical interests 2,173 student branches at colleges and universities in 80 countries. Student Branches (SB) are the backbone of the IEEE student program. IEEE has created a variety of resources to ensure that students are successful in their work. IEEE BTH SB was formed in November, 2012 and it has conducted more than 5 events so far that have been largely appreciated by many students and staff. The branch is open to all the students at BTH.

Karlskrona Iranian Association (KIA)

Iranian flagKarlskrona Iranian Association (KIA) is a non-political, non-religious organisation and has no affiliation with any political or religious organization. KIA is dedicated to promoting the cultural and social understanding of Iranians in Karlskrona and also to familiarise Iranians with Swedish culture. KIA is committed to meeting the needs of the growing Iranian and Iranian student community. The organization strives solely on volunteer involvement. KIA is going to have special plans for new students admitted at BTH during the fall semester 2010.
