Ethical Advisory Board in South East Sweden
The Ethical Advisory Board in South East Sweden was formed in 2005 and consists of representatives from Linnaeus University, Blekinge Institute of Technology, Region Kalmar County, Region Blekinge and Region Kronoberg. The chairmanship is shared between the two universities and is currently held by Linnaeus University.
The Ethical Advisory Board assists with ethical review and advisory opinions only to projects that are carried out in Sweden and thus subject to Swedish legislation. The Ethical Advisory Board offers advisory ethical review of the project regarding relation and information to research subjects as well as handling, collecting, processing, publishing and archiving data.
The Ethical Advisory Board does not give any ethical approval because the committee does not conduct any ethical review, instead we provide an advisory opinion to support the design of the project. It is the supervisor/researcher in charge who decides whether the project is to be carried out and is also the person responsible for compliance with the rules on research ethics.
Application and forms to the Ethics Committee
In order to process your application, the Ethical Advisory Board in South East Sweden needs documentation with the title of the project, name of applicant/supervisor and place for the implementation of the project. It is important that we get a clear account of the ethical problems that you yourself can see present in the project, as well as what measures you can take to minimize ethical problems that may arise. The committee also needs to know the background, purpose and possible issues of the project, how the data will be collected and managed, selection justification and procedure. It is important that you attach attachments as instructed in the application form.
As a student, you must make a notification of the processing of personal data in connection with collecting personal data in your study/thesis. Registration is made to your college/university. Link to registration can be found at Blekinge Institute of Technology and Linnaeus University.
The Ethical Advisory Board in South East Sweden does not issue an advisory opinion on projects already underway.
